A borough in Cumberland County, Mechanicsburg is located eight miles west of Harrisburg in a rich agricultural region between South Mountain and the Appalachians. Mechanicsburg has a population of more than 9,000 people, and has two high schools—Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School and Cumberland Valley Senior High School. Mechanicsburg is well-known for being home to Jubilee Day, the longest running one-day street fair in the eastern United States, which dates back to 1923 and has attracted as many as 70,000 visitors.
